In spite of the innovative and money related advantages of cloud computing, there are
frequently natural advantages that are disregarded. It lessens vitality utilization,
waste, and carbon discharges. Cloud computing isn't only a 'technological thing,' it
noteworthily affects society and the natural environment.

There are several ways in which it benefits the environment:

1. Reduced hardware emission: Cloud computing is less dependent on hardware this
factor is counted as the biggest contribution of cloud computing. Due to this
manufacturing of new hardware is reduced.
2. Reduced energy use: As we know that servers require a constant power supply, a
cooling system to avoid overheating, and when the equipment lifecycle ends, you
have to dispose them which gets added to e-waste. Cloud computing helps to
reduce these problems significantly.
3. Reduced geographical damages to nature: By means of cloud computing data
centers do not have any specific geographical preferences. They can be located at
any distance from the business location only condition to set up data center is to
avoid a disaster prone area.
4. Reduces the wastage of extra storage: In cloud computing, the service provider
usually offers a pay-as-you-go plan for everyone. These plans make users use
only the required amount of resources which reduces the wastage of power and
storage.
5. Shift to renewable energy sources: Carbon emission has reduced as some of the
data centers have shifted to renewable sources of energy to power their
operations.

Cloud Computing features which helps to achieve green computing:-

1. Pay-as-you-use service: This service ensures users to consume only needed and
nothing beyond. So the energy and resources are used efficiently.
2. Multi-tenancy: One of the features which enables different organization to take
advantage of a common cloud based infrastructure.
3. Computing scalability: Previously data centres depends on the hardware and
physical infrastructure to meet the requirements. So during peak hours when user
demand increases then to ensure the quality of service we dedicate extra servers
which is not energy efficient.
To fix this situation we used cloud-based infrastructure.
4. Load Balancing: Previously the load balancers used was not capable of handling
dynamic organizational requirements. But cloud computing takes the load balancing
to a new level. Due to this the workload distributes over multiple servers efficiently
and prevents overheating and reduces the amount of energy consumed.
[Not a single person is prepared to compromise on productivity while giving a
helping hand to green efforts. But with the help of cloud computing, we can easily
achieve the goal without affecting productivity].
